Discussing an Allergy
「アレルギーがあるの？」
"Do you have allergies?”
ミカはカフェのメニューを見ながら聞いた。
Mika asked as she looked at the café's menu.
ケンは少し困った顔をして答えた。
Ken looked a little troubled as he answered.
「うん、あるよ。
"Yes, I do."
ナッツがダメなんだ。」
"I can't have nuts."
「ナッツ？」
"Nuts?”
ミカは驚いて目を丸くした。
Mika rolled her eyes in surprise.
「それって、アーモンドとかピーナッツも？」
"Are you talking about almonds and peanuts, too?"
「そうだよ。
"Yes."
全部のナッツがダメ。
"I can't have any nuts."
食べると喉がかゆくなって、ひどいときは病院に行かなきゃならないんだ。」
"They make my throat itch, and if it's bad enough, I have to go to the hospital."
ミカはメニューを覗き込み、真剣な顔になった。
Mika looked at the menu and became serious.
「それなら、ここで頼めるものをちゃんと確認しないとね。」
"Then I'll have to make sure I know what I'm asking for here."
「ありがとう。
"Thanks."
でも、慣れてるから平気だよ。」
"But I'm used to it, so it's fine."
ケンは微笑んだ。
Ken smiled.
「いつもサラダとか、シンプルなものを選ぶんだ。」
"I always go for something simple, like a salad.”
ウェイターが近づいてきた。
The waiter approached.
「ご注文はお決まりですか？」
“What would you like to order?”
ミカは先に答えた。
Mika answered first.
「えっと、このシーザーサラダにします。
"I'll have this Caesar salad."
でも、すみません。
"But I'm sorry."
ドレッシングにナッツが入っていますか？」
"Do you have nuts in your dressing?”
ウェイターは少し考えてから答えた。
The waiter thought for a moment before answering.
「はい、少しピーナッツオイルが使われています。」
"Yes, it has a little peanut oil in it."
「じゃあ、それはやめます。」
"Then we won't do that."
ケンはすぐに言った。
Ken said quickly.
「代わりに普通のサラダでお願いします。」
"I'll have a regular salad instead, please."
ウェイターはメモを取りながら微笑んだ。
The waiter smiled as he took notes.
「かしこまりました。
"Certainly,” the waiter said.
ナッツなしでご用意します。」
"No nuts, please."
ミカはほっとした顔でケンを見た。
Mica looked at Ken with relief.
「よかったね。」
"That's great,” Ken said.
「ありがとう、ミカ。
"Thank you, Mika."
本当に助かるよ。」
"That's really nice of you."
ケンは嬉しそうに言った。
Ken said so happily.
