The Post Office

The Post Office
When entering the post office, there were several customers lined up at the counter. Haruko waited her turn, a little nervous. Today was the first time she had come to the post office to send international mail. When her turn came, Haruko spoke to the clerk: "Excuse me, I would like to send this package to the United States." The clerk replied smilingly: “Yes, certainly." "First, please fill out this form with your destination address." "Then we will check to see if there are any hazardous materials in the package." Haruko took the form and began to write down the address next to the counter. She filled out the forms carefully one by one, murmuring in a whisper, “American addresses are the opposite of Japanese ones." When he returned to the counter, the clerk took the package and asked: “Do you want it shipped by air or sea?” Haruko thought for a moment. "Which is faster?” "Air mail is faster, but a little more expensive." "Shipping takes longer, but it's less expensive." Haruko hesitated, but then made up her mind. "Then I'll take air mail, please.” The staff member weighed the package and calculated. "The charge will be 2,000 yen." Haruko took money out of her purse and handed it over. "Please take care of it." "Thank you very much." "Here is the tracking number so you can check the status of your package." The clerk handed over the receipt and the number. Haruko smiled and said, “Thank you very much for your help!" with a smile, and left the post office.
