My Neighbor Totoro
さつきとめいという二人の姉妹が田舎に引っ越すことになった。
Two sisters, Satsuki and Mei, are moving to the countryside.
父親と一緒に古い家に住むことになり、母親は病気で近くの病院に入院している。
They will live in an old house with their father, and their mother is ill and in a nearby hospital.
姉妹は新しい家やその周りの自然を探検しながら、少しずつ田舎の生活に慣れていく。
The sisters gradually get used to life in the countryside as they explore their new home and the nature around it.
ある日、めいは庭で遊んでいると、小さな不思議な生き物を見つけて追いかける。
One day, while playing in the garden, Mei finds a small mysterious creature and chases after it.
気づけば森の奥深くまで来ていて、大きな木の下で大きなトトロという生き物に出会う。
She finds herself deep in the forest, and under a large tree, she meets a large Totoro.
めいはトトロとすぐに仲良くなり、彼に「トトロ」と名前をつける。
Mei quickly becomes friends with him and names him "Totoro."
トトロは優しくてちょっと変わった存在だが、とても安心感を与えてくれる。
Totoro is kind and a little strange, but he makes her feel very safe.
後日、さつきもトトロと出会い、二人はますますトトロに魅了される。
Later, Satsuki also meets Totoro, and the two become more and more fascinated by him.
雨の日、さつきとめいがバス停で父親を待っていると、トトロが現れる。
On a rainy day, Satsuki and Mei are waiting for their father at the bus stop when Totoro appears.
トトロは葉っぱの傘を持っていて、雨に濡れることも気にしない様子だ。
Totoro has a leaf umbrella and does not seem to mind getting wet.
トトロはバスの代わりに巨大な「ネコバス」を呼び出し、それに乗ってどこかへ行く。
Instead of a bus, Totoro calls a giant "cat bus" and rides it somewhere.
母親の病状がなかなか良くならないことに心配しためいは、一人で病院まで行こうとするが、途中で迷子になってしまう。
Mei, worried that her mother's condition is not getting better, tries to go to the hospital alone, but gets lost on the way.
村の人たちやさつきが一生懸命めいを探すが見つからない。
The villagers and Satsuki do their best to find her, but they cannot find her.
さつきはトトロに助けを求めると、トトロはネコバスを呼び出し、さつきを乗せてめいのいる場所へと急ぐ。
Satsuki asks Totoro for help, and Totoro calls the cat bus, which carries Satsuki and rushes to where Mei is.
最終的に、さつきとめいは無事に再会し、母親にも良い知らせが届く。
In the end, Satsuki and Mei are safely reunited, and their mother receives good news.
トトロたちの助けに感謝しつつ、姉妹は再び穏やかな日常を取り戻す。
Grateful for the help of Totoro and his friends, the sisters once again return to their peaceful lives.
トトロとその仲間たちは、森の奥で静かに見守り続ける。
Totoro and his friends continue to quietly watch over them deep in the forest.
