トゥルーマン・ショーの物語は、トゥルーマン・バーバンクという普通の男性の人生を描いています。
The story of The Truman Show follows the life of an ordinary man named Truman Burbank.
しかし、実は彼の生活は全て偽物です。
But in fact, his entire life is a fake.
トゥルーマンが住んでいる街、彼の家族や友人、仕事場の同僚までもが全員俳優であり、街全体が巨大なセットなのです。
The town Truman lives in, his family, his friends, and even his co-workers at work are all actors, and the entire town is a giant set.
彼はそのことに全く気づいていません。
He is completely unaware of this.
彼の人生は生まれた瞬間からテレビ番組として放送されているのです。
His life has been broadcast as a TV show from the moment he was born.
トゥルーマンの毎日は決まりきったもので、彼は特に疑問を持たずに生活しています。
Truman's days are routine and he lives them without question.
しかし、ある日、空から突然大きなライトが落ちてきます。
One day, however, a large light suddenly falls from the sky.
「飛行機の部品だ」と説明されますが、トゥルーマンは何かおかしいと感じます。
It is explained that it is a part of an airplane, but Truman senses that something is wrong.
その後も不思議な出来事が続きます。
Strange events continue to occur after that.
街の人々の動きが不自然だったり、同じ車が何度も通ったりします。
People in the city move in unnatural ways, and the same cars pass by again and again.
トゥルーマンの疑念は徐々に深まっていきます。
Truman's suspicions gradually deepen.
さらに、若い頃に出会った女性、ローレンのことを思い出します。
He also remembers Lauren, a woman he met when he was younger.
彼女は他の人たちとは違い、トゥルーマンに「全ては嘘だ」と伝えようとしましたが、すぐに番組スタッフに連れ去られてしまいました。
Unlike the others, she tried to tell Truman that it was all a lie, but was soon taken away by the program staff.
その出来事以来、トゥルーマンは彼女を忘れることができず、彼女の言葉を信じ始めます。
Since that incident, Truman has never been able to forget her and begins to believe her words.
トゥルーマンは真実を知るために行動を起こします。
Truman takes action to find out the truth.

He tries to leave the city, but the staff stops him in every way possible.

They create storms and break down ferries to prevent him from leaving the city.

Still, Truman never gives up.
ついに彼はボートに乗り、果てしない海のように見えるセットの端までたどり着きます。
Finally he gets on a boat and reaches the edge of a set of seemingly endless oceans.
そこには空と海の境界線のような壁があり、扉が一つだけあります。
There is a wall there, like a border between the sky and the sea, and only one door.
その扉を開けると、外の本当の世界への道が現れます。
Opening that door reveals a path to the real world outside.
最後に、トゥルーマンは外の世界へ踏み出す決心をし、監督やスタッフの呼びかけを無視してセットを出て行きます。
Finally, Truman decides to step out into the outside world and leaves the set, ignoring the calls of the director and staff.
その瞬間、トゥルーマンはついに自由を手に入れ、視聴者たちの拍手とともに物語は幕を閉じます。
At that moment, Truman finally achieves his freedom, and the story ends with the applause of the viewers.
