東京の夜、アメリカから来た中年俳優ボブ・ハリスは、豪華なホテルのバーで一人酒を飲んでいた。
On a night in Tokyo, Bob Harris, a middle-aged actor from the US, was drinking alone in the bar of a luxurious hotel.
彼はウイスキーのCM撮影のために訪れたが、異国の地での孤独感に押しつぶされそうになっていた。
He was there to shoot a whiskey commercial and was feeling crushed by the loneliness of being in a foreign land.
日本語もわからず、文化も馴染めず、家族との距離を感じながら日々を過ごしている。

However, reality looms over them.

On his last day in Tokyo, Bob leaves the hotel to return home.

Just before getting into a cab, he happens to see Charlotte and stops her.
二人は東京の喧騒の中で静かに抱き合い、ボブは彼女に何かを耳打ちする。
They embrace quietly in the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, and Bob overhears something to her.
その言葉は観客には聞こえないが、シャーロットは涙を浮かべ、微笑む。
The words are inaudible to the audience, but Charlotte tears up and smiles.

As the cab starts moving and the Tokyo streets drift by, Bob gives Charlotte one last look through the window as he returns to his life.
