空から落ちてきた少女、シータは、不思議な力を持つ首飾りをしていた。
Sita, a young girl who fell from the sky, was wearing a necklace with magical powers.
彼女は鉱山の町に住む少年、パズーに助けられる。
She is rescued by Pazoo, a boy living in a mining town.
パズーは彼女がどこから来たのか気になり、話を聞くうちに、彼女が「ラピュタ」と呼ばれる伝説の浮かぶ島に関わりがあることを知る。
Pazoo is curious about where she came from, and as he listens to her story, he learns that she is related to a legendary floating island called "Laputa."
二人はシータを追いかける軍隊と空賊から逃げることになる。
The two of them must flee from the army and air pirates who are chasing after Sita.
空賊のリーダー、ドーラは最初は敵だったが、彼女の心強さと面白い性格から、次第に二人と協力するようになる。
Dora, the leader of the air pirates, is initially an enemy, but her reassuring and amusing personality gradually leads her to cooperate with them.
彼らはラピュタを見つけるため、空の旅に出る。
They embark on a journey in the sky to find Laputa.

Along the way, Sita's secret is revealed.

その力を狙うムスカという冷酷な男が現れ、二人を脅かす。
A ruthless man named Musca appears and threatens them both.
ムスカはラピュタの力を手に入れ、世界を支配しようとしていた。
Musca wants to take Laputa's power and rule the world.
ついにラピュタを発見した一行は、美しいが朽ちた空の城に足を踏み入れる。
When the group finally discovers Laputa, they step into the beautiful but decaying castle in the sky.
しかし、ムスカはシータを捕え、ラピュタの秘密を解き明かそうとする。
However, Musca captures Sita and tries to unravel the secret of Laputa.
彼の野望を止めるため、シータとパズーは知恵を絞り、最後にはラピュタを守るための古代の呪文を唱える。
To stop his ambition, Sita and Pazoo gather their wits and finally cast an ancient spell to protect Laputa.
ラピュタは静かに空高く飛び去り、地上に戻るパズーとシータ。
Laputa quietly flies away high into the sky, and Pazuzu and Sita return to earth.
彼らは互いに助け合いながら、新しい未来へ向かって進むのだった。
Helping each other, they continue on toward a new future.
