空港で助けを求める
Asking for Help at the Airport
空港のロビーは広く、たくさんの人が行き来している。
The airport lobby is large and many people come and go.
旅行者の中には困った顔をしている人もいる。
Some of the travelers look troubled.
その一人、ジョンという外国人が荷物を持ちながらキョロキョロと周りを見渡している。
One of them, a foreigner named John, scurried around with his luggage.
ジョンは近くの空港スタッフを見つけ、声をかけた。
John found a nearby airport staff member and asked her: "Excuse me, can you help me?"
「すみません、手伝ってもらえますか？」
The staff woman turned to him with a kind smile.
スタッフの女性が優しい笑顔で振り向いた。
"Yes, how can I help you?"
「はい、どうされましたか？」
John answered, a little nervous.
ジョンは少し緊張しながら答えた。
"I don't know where my boarding gate is."
「えっと、搭乗口がわかりません。
"It's written right here..."
ここに書いてありますけど…。」
He showed her his ticket.
彼はチケットを見せる。
It said "Gate 15."
そこには「ゲート15」と書かれていた。
The staff checked the ticket and nodded a little.
スタッフはチケットを確認し、少しうなずいた。
"Gate 15, right?"
「ゲート15ですね。
You are on this floor now, so please take the escalator to the second floor."
今このフロアにいますので、エスカレーターで2階に行ってください。
"Then turn right and you will see an information board."
そして右に曲がると案内板が見えます。
"There you will find Gate 15."
そこにゲート15があります。」
John looked relieved.
ジョンはホッとした表情になった。
"Thank you very much!"
「ありがとうございます！
"Where is the escalator?"
エスカレーターはどこですか？」
The staff member pointed in a nearby direction.
スタッフは近くの方向を指差した。
"Over there."
「あちらです。
"Please look for the large blue sign."
大きな青い看板がありますので、それを目印にしてください。」
"You've been so helpful."
「助かりました。
"Thank you so much!"
本当にありがとうございます。」
John bowed deeply and started walking in the direction he had been given.
ジョンは深くおじぎをして、教えられた方向に向かって歩き出した。
The staff looked at him with a smile and said softly: "Have a nice trip!"
スタッフは笑顔で見送りながら、小さく声をかけた。
John turned around, waved his hand, and replied cheerfully, "Thank you!"
「良い旅を。」
He then followed the directions and successfully found Gate 15.
ジョンは振り返り、手を振って「ありがとうございます！」
と元気よく答えた。
その後、彼は指示通りに進み、無事にゲート15を見つけることができた。
