The Doctor's Office
診察室のドアを開けると、若い医者が机に座っていた。
Upon opening the door to the examination room, there was a young doctor sitting at his desk.
彼は顔を上げて、穏やかな笑顔を見せた。
He looked up and smiled serenely.
「どうしましたか？」
"How can I help you?" The doctor asked.
医者が尋ねる。
Mr. Tanaka looked a little nervous as he answered.
田中さんは少し緊張した顔で答えた。
"My head has been aching since yesterday, and I have a fever."
「昨日から頭が痛くて、熱もあるんです。」
The doctor nodded and took the notes in his hand.
医者はうなずきながら手元のメモを取った。
"Do you have any other symptoms?"
「他に何か症状はありますか？」
"I also have a slight sore throat.
「少し喉も痛いです。
But I don't have much of a cough."
でも咳はあまり出ません。」
"Okay."
「わかりました。」
The doctor got up from his chair and picked up a thermometer.
医者は椅子を立ち、体温計を手に取った。
"Then let's take your temperature."
「では、熱を測りましょう。
"Then let me see your throat."
それから、喉を見せてください。」
Mr. Tanaka took the thermometer and put it under his arm.
田中さんは体温計を受け取り、脇に挟んだ。
A few moments later, a beep sounded.
少しして、ピッという音が鳴る。
"It's 37.8 degrees Celsius."
「37.8度ですね。
"You have a slight fever."
少し熱があります。」
The doctor nodded and continued his examination.
医者は頷きながら診察を続けた。
"Your throat is also red and swollen."
「喉も赤く腫れていますね。
"I think it's probably just a mild cold, but I'll give you some medicine to take and see what happens."
たぶん軽い風邪だと思いますが、薬を出しますので、それを飲んで様子を見てください。」
Mr. Tanaka smiled reassuringly.
田中さんは安心したように微笑んだ。
"Thank you very much."
「ありがとうございます。
"I'll take care."
気をつけます。」
"Take care."
「お大事に。」
The doctor said gently and began to write the prescription.
医者は優しく言い、処方箋を書き始めた。
After leaving the examination room, Mr. Tanaka left the hospital feeling a little lighter.
診察室を出ると、田中さんは少し軽くなった気分で病院を後にした。
